Solo show at Woldt Gallery, Hamburg: Alex Kuznetsov's "The Fear of the Fog"
17th November - 30th December 2022

Within the shrouded veil, the fog doth hide,
A world of secrets, where fears reside.

Woldt Gallery, Hamburg, proudly presents "The Fear of the Fog," an exhibition featuring the enthralling work of artist Alex Kuznetsov. The exhibition delves into the haunting beauty and disquietude evoked by the enigmatic presence of fog, as it veils and mystifies the world around us.

Fog in the forest, fog on the path, a fog of time, a haze in the mind. A gentle chill upon the legs, the scent of dampness in the air. Diffused light, leaves beneath one's feet. Direction uncertain, yet the greatest fear: encountering another soul. A longing to escape the fog's embrace.

Yet, beholding the fog from afar, a sight unparalleled unfolds. Layers visible as they glide across the earth, enveloping shrubs and ground. Often seen at sunset, or in the tranquil twilight's glow. From a hillock, gaze upon the fog below, as hills and trees submerge within its depths. A sight both mesmerizing and unnerving.

Such fog was witnessed this year, as Kuznetsov returned to his mother's dacha in Minsk for a brief respite. There, the fog was alluring, melancholic, and governed by its own enigmatic rules.

Kuznetsov yearns for the freedom to return to our origins, whenever we desire.

For now, the fog remains - a source of fear and fascination.
