Gallery Triumph (Moscow) presents first solo show of artist Alex Kuznetsov "Another output" at the venue.
The artist was born in Minsk, where he studied art from a young age. He began his career in art as a graffiti artist, gaining recognition in the subculture not only in Russia but also abroad, founded the famous True Stilo team, after which in 2010 he completely switched to studio creativity, concentrating on abstract painting. Alexei is interested in the interactions of colors, rhythm and dynamics that immerse the artist in a meditative stream of consciousness, where the process is as important as the result. Following the vibrations of color, Alexey gives them a finished shape with a spatula, completely surrendering to the creation of the work.
In the series of works presented at the exhibition, form and color combine, move and interact, only remotely resembling urban subjects - the outlines of futuristic cars, the contours of helmets, the sky pierced by the spiers of skyscrapers. In an abstract work of art, materials and medium become independent, becoming equal actors. Taking inspiration from the expressive layers of Gerhard Richter's colors, Barnett Newman's “color fields” and Pierre Soulages’s “super black” colors, Alexey creates unique works of art that amaze the viewer with their inner energy.
In his work, Alexey uses the measured language of the movement of the instrument, in which the fluidity of the paint imposes certain frames, and the erasure of color is tantamount to its intuitive application. The artist explores the state of presence and the phenomenon of memory, keeping an eye on the balance of control and spontaneity.
Painting for Alexey is a constant search for the ideal, the embodiment of the desire to organize the world in accordance with the inner sense of harmony. The artist does not apply explanations to his abstractions - instead, he sublimates his visions on canvas, instructing the viewer to decipher these images and, possibly, identify with them.
